Tee-hee

It's Friends List Appreciation Week!!!

(Well, for me it is, anyway.)

Because all of you are so awesome and amazing for having to put up with my daily histrionic babbling, I've decided to hold a Friends List Appreciation Week event here on my journal. Please comment with a request for one (or all) of the following:

-Name of a fandom, character and prompt, for a little ficlet written just for you;
-Question that you have been meaning to ask me but keep forgetting;
-Something that you have been meaning to tell me but haven't found the chance;
-A request for a good read, good listen, good show/movie, or good whatever;
-A nice compliment just for you!

There are no limits and no slots. This will be open for everyone on my friends list, for as long as it takes for everyone to participate if they would like! If I am unable to fill the ficlet request, you will be given a chance to make another request.

Okay! Go!

Brownies that DESTROY THE CONCEPT OF MUSIC

It's seriously no problem. I'm enjoying it as it comes.

(Poor Mai. Not only born with a weak stomach, but born into a world on the verge of a transportation revolution that'll give her so many new opportunities to get motion sick.)

How about something ATLA. I,d love something about Sokka. :D About Sokka and a dog. He seems like the type to love dogs.

Youko/Rakushun - Friend-shippy, Part One

Sometimes, when he was able to take a break from his studies in En, Rakushun found Youko sitting at her desk, chin in hand, her eyes glazed over and glanced at nothing. Usually a frown graced her face, and her eyebrows were drawn close together.

It didn't surprise him. Enki had reported something along the lines of, "Youko's trying, but it's taking her longer than usual. And of course, you know Keiki -" and here he pulled a face, so appropriate upon his childlike face, "- he's as serious as she is. She never gets the support she really needs."

"And what kind do you think she needs?" Rakushun had asked.

Enki smiled, his eyes glittering. "The kind that isn't serious."

Even as he shadowed the doorway, Rakushun wasn't quite sure what that meant. But he knocked on the door anyway, hoping that he could at least distract her for a while.

Her eyes came to life as she jumped from surprise, her head jerking towards him. As was her style, she wore robes suited for someone lower-class, but that was just her way - she didn't like the robes suited for a king, preferring the simpler kind, or even men's clothes. He knew it drove everyone crazy, but he really admired her for it.

"Rakushun," she murmured, sounding dazed, as if she were miles away while lost in her thoughts. "What are you doing here?" Then her face scrunched up in displeasure. "Don't tell me - Enki sent you."

He took that as an invitation and walked into the room, smiling a little and twitching his whiskers as he swallowed his urge to laugh. "Well, in a way," he admitted, causing her to roll her eyes and place a hand on her forehead. "But you have to admit that I've been more tardy than usual lately."

Youko lowered her hand and blinked at him, as if confused by this. "But you have school. I know that. How is it going?"

Rakushun paused, recognising her tactic. She did this every time he came by - in order to keep him from discussing her own progress, she wheeled the conversation towards himself.

He decided to humour her for the moment, since talking about school was always such a delight. He had been held back for so long when he lived in Kou that it was still a novelty, even after a couple of years, that he was being educated based on his intelligence instead of his species. He discussed at length with her about the many odds and ends about his daily life, the people he had met, his rather flattering nickname, and so on. She listened with a smile, her cheek back on her hand, only it was a gesture of great concentration rather than boredom.

When he ran out of words, she smiled wider. "I'm so glad you're happy," she said, her eyes shining.

"What about you, Youko?" he answered, scratching at his nose a little in shyness from her compliment. "How are you doing?"

Youko/Rakushun - Friend-shippy, Part Two

Her eyes clouded over again, and the smile faded. "I thought it would be easier," she admitted, not looking at him. "I thought being a taika would mean that I would suddenly remember how life works here. But it's not like that."

"Of course not," Rakushun said kindly, "since you were only a baby when you left Kei - barely that."

She nodded, closing her eyes for longer than a blink. "I know."

Rakushun looked around for a moment, then spotted an empty chair. He dragged it over and sat down. He wanted to make sure she knew that he wasn't going anywhere, and that the time he had right now was earmarked just for her. She watched his moments with a trace of wariness, but relaxed when she saw he was comfortable. She had changed a lot, but she still didn't enjoy being a burden on people.

"But?" he pressed.

She cracked, resting her head on the desk and shutting her eyes. "But," she agreed. "Keiki is a great support, and so are the other ministers, and now that the government is more or less stable, it has gotten much easier, but..."

He leaned in closer and smiled. "You're still confused, huh?"

She opened her eyes and smiled again, which made him feel accomplished. "Pretty much."

"Youko, you know you can do this," he said gently. "You were born to do it. It's just going to take some time, but you will be able to do it."

"Even with the new law in place, people still feel the need to bow or sigh. It's like I'm filled with a bunch of people-shaped electric fans."

That comparison puzzled him, but he chose not to ask. "It's an adjustment, is all. You're proving far better than the previous women-kings. Maybe they'll hold you up as a new example."

She chuckled drily, but then met his gaze, her eyes warm. "Thanks, Rakushun. You know, I can always count on you. You have so much kindness, and you never ask for anything in return."

"Well, that's not true," he replied truthfully.

She raised her head. "What do you mean?"

"I ask that you make sure Kei is well-looked-after," he answered automatically. Then, seeing her eyes darken a little, he realised his mistake - it was a nice thing to say, but it laced a personal touch, which apparently she craved. "And," he added, "that you keep some time open for me."

The smile returned, as warm as her eyes. She placed her hand over his paw, and he felt the warmth, there, a warmth that spread up his arm. He twitched his whiskers, feeling all at once shy and giddy. "Thank you," she repeated, and the warmth touched his chest.

Recommendations...hm. If you can find it, I always recommend that Shadow Raiders/War Planets is an excellent CGI show to get hooked on. The animation is gorgeous, the plot is intense and original, and the characters are just plain awesome.

1. I...don't think I can do this. I pulled up a word doc and stared at it for something like 15 minutes before giving up. You may request again if you like.

2. More or less. I'm fond of the weather mostly, but the politics piss me off to no end. Weirs?

3. I tried reading Laurel K Hamilton but I couldn't take her seriously. I will, however, look into John Wyndham.

1. This one does seem very unfair. ;) Any Elfangor/Loren at all? I don't think I've ever seen an Animorphs piece from you.

2. Stupid 's' is too close to the 'd'! Weird. :P

3. Yay! I need some peeps to chat about Wyndham with.

Slayers-Lina/Gourry- While traveling, before they have kids, what happens if they found a lost baby?? Your the best and I will keep saying that forever!!

2. Oh, in that case, no, I don't find you weird at all. I think we're all pretty much similar in terms of lifestyle and challenges, you know? You guys just have way more rain and water.

1. Oh, and as for writing Animorphs, I haven't written anything for years. I've always felt weird writing fanfiction based on books - I feel like a traitor or some sort. However, I will try my best to fill this prompt =3.
