Ah yes

I mentioned this in a comment, but I feel it's important enough to announce to all of you.

Never EVER feel as if you have to leave me a review on any of my fics. I do appreciate them, but just because you don't review doesn't mean your opinion of what I write means less!

I have always disliked the review demands that have been placed upon reading fics. Honestly, for me, it doesn't matter if you review. The fact that you took the time to even read a small bit of it means the most to me. Really, truly.

A very non-religious AMEN to this.

Lol your icon.

Yeeeah...I know that reviews are really nice to get, but there really shouldn't be so much emphasis and - well - overreaction over the amount of reviews you get. I usually just compare it to the fact that major novels don't get reviews as easily or in quantity as fic authors. Therefore I find internet fics unique in that sense. If anything, all of us are extremely lucky to receive as much reviews for fics we don't even profit from. So therefore, I just feel lucky to even get one review, and would never beg for any more.

Yeah, exactly. I'm even happy with favs and being added to C2s even if I don't get an actual review. Because that means somebody read it and liked it enough to click that button. Reviews are awesome, but the review-begging -- or even worse, holding the rest of a fic hostage until the author gets the desired amount of reviews -- is just obnoxious.

Ah yes, review-bartering. That just makes me want to stop reading the damned fic, to be honest. Why do people think that works?

[identity profile] rachelthedemon.livejournal.com 2011-07-06 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Because Mommy and Daddy always told them they were Special and Unique and could do whatever they wanted if they believed in themselves enough. Obviously everything they write is golden, and we'll just be devastated if we don't find out what happens!

Hell, even I know that I can't get everything, and I was incredibly spoilt. I'm just tickled when I see that anyone read more than one chapter of a story.

In all honesty, despite all my friends being writers of it, I rarely read fanfics. I feel not shame :D

I always laugh at 'fics that demand more reviews for more chapters. If I did that I'd have an awful lot of one-shots out there...

Well I do, but for an entirely different reason!

To be honest, I write for such obscure fandoms/pairings these days that I'm more than satisfied with just one review/favorite.

(Really, I'm actually somewhat astonished that "Love and War" got as many hits on FF.net and AO3 as it did. Being a rarely-written pairing for a microscopic fandom my expectations were set very low...)

I'm gonna pretend I didn't just read you being confused about Love and War being so popular.

...sooooo would this be a good time to tottle over to FF.net and leave you gushing reviews over "Flickers and Fading" that I keep forgetting to tell you is one of my absolute favorites of yours, then?

;)

*ducks*

You just gave me a review right now by saying that =D. So thank you!

Although to be honest, I was expecting a bigger backlash with that fic. I thought I would get flamed until next decade.

Oh, because of the character death? Nah. It was forewarned and respectfully handled. You had nothing to worry about. :)
