Fucking phone

I've been having problems with my cellphone lately, and for no reason! I get texts, like, three days after they're sent to me, and for some reason after only a day or two, my battery dies!

I don't know why; this has never happened before! So it's either time to get rid of my cellphone forever or see if I can get a new one that is simple and not full of too much shit that would give me Crackberry disease.

So annoying. I actually really like my phone. I don't get why this is happening now after a year or two of flawless performance. Maybe the fact that my dad was its previous owner has something to do with it...

I'm guessing the late text messages thing is probably an issue with Rogers routing the messages.

The battery, though, is probably just old age as Lithium-ion batteries can't get very spotty after a few years. Do you know how long your dad had it before he gave it to you? Also, you could try shopping around for a battery replacement. It should be cheaper.

It's probably about five years old. I should think it wouldn't die so soon just because of only five years!

Where would I even find a battery replacement?

[identity profile] caster13.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Five years is pretty long in terms of mobile devices. iPad 2 was announced about a year after the iPad.

We could check Futureshop, Radioshack, even that little cell phone kiosk inside Meadowvale Town Centre.

I could do that today. I was talking with Jake (see below) and I'm also going to see if they sell pagers at Wind.

A pager? Are you sure about that? It'd be like people being able to call/bug you but you not being able to do anything about it till you get to a phone.

[identity profile] yukinoomoni.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno. I just find it better than dealing with cellphone shit. It's so expensive.

[identity profile] jacobreid.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Most companies give their equipment a 5 year life expectancy. HP printers are considered obsolete after 5 years. So basically if someone calls us and its 5+ years old, we can't actually help them. Its like, "oh its 5 years old? well no wonder its not working!"

[identity profile] yukinoomoni.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
That's so dumb. World, you are dumb.

[identity profile] jacobreid.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
World is indeed dumb.

The stuff my company makes has a 25-year warranty. And we support it for lots longer than that.

I know you don't want to get hooked on a crackberry but I think virgin mobile has a deal on right now where you can get unlimited text, unlimited bbm, and evenings/weekends after 5pm for only 30 bucks a month.

And virgin kind of does what koodo does and will give you a tab for your phone rather then a contract. So basically the phone costs X amount of dollars and I think 3% of what you pay towards your bill goes to paying that tab. Once the tab is up you can quit them or get a new phone.

Yeeeah...I'm actually starting to wonder if this is the push I need to just drop my cellphone altogether.

[identity profile] jacobreid.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Like having no cellphone at all? Cause to be honest, I'd prefer a cellphone to a landline. I'm never home anyways. And I'd never pay for both. For me a cellphone is just better because texts can sit there and wait for me (I should get voicemail though). Texting isn't more or less expensive if you're long distance texting.

[identity profile] yukinoomoni.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking maybe a pager. Do they still sell those?

Maybe I'll stop by Wind Mobile near my work and see if they have pagers. I just am very sick of having a cellphone.

[identity profile] jacobreid.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I pager would be a decent idea. I don't know if you need a service provider for those though. And if you do, I'm not sure who still provides it.

[identity profile] yukinoomoni.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I could ask if they do end up having them. If not, well, I may just trash the cellphone idea for a while. Really, I'm not that popular to need a cellphone that I have to pay $55 a month for. It's not worth it.

[identity profile] jacobreid.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
If the pager service ends up being 30+ dollars though I'd still end up getting a cellphone. Maybe pay as you go?

[identity profile] yukinoomoni.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Both pay-as-you-go and a basic cellphone would be a good idea. I dunno. I just am starting to see less and less of a point.

[identity profile] jacobreid.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
The point...?

YOU MUST CONFOOOOOOORRRMMMM BLLLLLLLLARRGGGH!!!!!!!

[identity profile] yukinoomoni.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Noooo~! I'm not popular or important enough!!

[identity profile] jacobreid.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
THIS IS BULL DROPPINGS! >:P

[identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
That's why I bought an oldie, simple phone two years ago. despite it really making my salesperson sad lol.

[identity profile] avocado-love.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It doesn't have anything to do with your phone, physically. Your SMS/VM profile probably got messed up. Call up tech support. It's an easy 2 minute fix, usually. :D

[identity profile] amelia-seyroon.livejournal.com 2011-08-11 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Hope you get your phone issues fixed!

If life was a Persona game, your cellphone would start working again but there'd be only one number on it and the number opens up portals to somewhere weird.

...anyways, I personally have a $25/month plan with Verizon, but it runs out of minutes and auto-refills slightly too often. If you switch, maybe one of those combos would be handy? Like you get a good deal if you combine billing with people you're close with.

[identity profile] yukinoomoni.livejournal.com 2011-08-13 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
If life was a Persona game, I can't imagine what my Persona would be...

[identity profile] agentjayhere.livejournal.com 2011-08-15 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
There's so many choices, isn't there. It does raise the question of how these high-school students get so handy with swords and arrows...maybe the knowledge transfers over to the Persona-user?

Anyways.
I can't really claim to know which one would fit you the best, though something fiery might be fitting. That's not a bad thing...

If I'd have one maybe it would have something to do with books. Isn't that kind of boring? Instead of being able to stop time or punch stuff while yelling "ORAORAORAORA" mine would be able to pick books out of really really tall bookshelves.
I seriously have no imagination.

(I probably should work on not tangenting to talking about myself. It's annoying, right? It's fine if you're annoyed, I'm annoyed myself...)
