I just had to close the store for a few minutes because I couldn't stop crying. I was reading a book that had a scene in which a dog was being beaten by her owner with a 2x4, and no one would do anything but a woman with Tourette's. Her pastor came by and told her that the dog-beater wasn't committing a sin, because dogs didn't have souls, so it didn't matter what happened to them. I finished the chapter, started bawling, then closed the store and cried out of view from customers.

I cried over a fictional dog in a fictional situation. I know it's not real. But what it represents is real, because there are thousands of evil people like that every single day beating their pets for no reason other than they're angry. And 90% (I'm guessing) of these pets are only saved when they die.

So I had to cry. And I still feel teary. Because sometimes I feel like that poor dog, and every single day I get beaten with a 2x4, and everyone around me just watches, because they're afraid they'll get hurt, too. But at least I'm lucky enough to have places to run to. Pets already think they're home, and that their home is the safest place to be. And that makes me hate the world even more than I already do.

:( I'm just as sobby about kids (usually ones with disabilities for some obvious reasons) in books. Then I keep reading them anyway because I'm an idiot.

I hope I could help you if you needed it, I hate just sitting by and watching if I know what's going on. :(

That sounds....really horrible. I'm sorry.

And I'm sorry to launch into a story, but that reminds me of the one time I burst into tears because I had to kill a monkey in Twilight Princess. It's alright to cry at fiction, because sadly fiction mimics real life.

And we've all felt like that dog sometime.

I really hate animal cruelty. It's sick beyond redemption...
