I know what you mean. A friend of mine is taking actual guitar lessons and spends way more time practicing than I do. When we get together I sometimes have to resist snapping at him when I can't follow a rhythm or I'm not getting something that he's trying to show me.
Just keep in mind that three months from now you'll look at what you're struggling with now and play it with ease. It may be frustrating, but the more you challenge yourself, the faster you'll make progress.
Don't let yourself get too discouraged because you struggled with a higher level of difficulty. You hadn't seen this book before, and you didn't have a chance to practice with it. Now that you've got it, you can. And while it won't be as easy to get a handle on as the other book, you'll get it eventually, I promise.
