XP my theory is that they didnt want to lose the Zutara audience. Like...I have to wonder the reason for the revision here http://fierymonk.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d1i8sai in panel 208-A was less because Giancarlo 'chose a side' and more because that's what the original script called for.
But hey. If they had have added that in, who knows. The fandom might not be what it is today. Hard to say. It'll be interesting to see what they've learned and brought in from Aang's story to Korra's...which I seriously hope we get news of soon XP
