A frivilous distraction from real topics

yukinoomoniI need a haircut. The back layers are getting long - like, mullet-long - and it's bothering me. The thing is, I'm set in my head that I want a ponytail, so if I got my hair cut, I would have to cut all of it.
Unless I went to a cheap salon and just got the back done, which would mean no more mullet but having to wait much longer for a ponytail.
I want my hair to look nice while growing out, but I want things to be easier once it does, too.
Or should I give up the ponytail thing since I lack patience and get my usual crop-cut?
Thoughts?
