Jack Layton has passed away. He lost his fight with cancer. You have no idea how much this saddens me. It's so sudden - there was no warning. He only said he was fighting the cancer, not how badly it had spread. I mean, the last videos we saw of him show him looking really really sick, so I guess I should have seen it coming, but seriously. I would have liked to see him as PM at least once before I died. I never thought he would beat me to it...

I know precious little about Canadian politics, but...=(, indeed.

Though for morbid humor, I read that as Jeff Leyton (singer, best known for various Broadway and West End roles) and nearly had a coronary of my own.

He's pretty big here in Canada, and especially here in Ontario. He was VERY close to getting elected to PM this year, if people weren't too busy being morons. I really wish he had won, even if it would have been only for a few months...
