I couldn't decide, so I came up with this stupid idea that I think you can all appreciate.
MULTI-MEME...MEME?!
Anything goes. You can:
- ask me questions about anything, but have always wanted to know.
- ask for a fic or a drabble
- ask for advice
- ask for an opinion
- post cats eating cheeseburgers
JUST POST WHATEVER YOU WANT AND HAVE FUN WITH IT. I DO NOT FUCKING CARE. BUT YOU MUST HAVE FUN OR I WILL SIT ON YOU. ANYONE NOT HAVING FUN WILL HAVE THEIR COMMENTS DELETED AND THEIR INBOX SPAMMED WITH PICTURES OF MY DOG.
Go nuts!

Date: 2010-08-19 02:01 pm (UTC)I will also get around to finishing Seirei no Moribito fic one of these days. Oh, and do like Tanda and Balsa as a couple and do you think the novels of Moribito are better than the anime? I've been seriously thinking of getting my hands on the novels.
I am having fun, but I wouldn't mind if you spammed me with picture of your dog, because she is adorable. <3

Date: 2010-08-19 02:36 pm (UTC)It should be noted that in the original series, Sugimoto Yuka and Asano never went with Youko to the Twelve Kingdoms, and she went alone. While they series was rather clever in finding ways to fit them into the series, there are still some plotholes surrounding their circumstances. Just keep that in mind when watching it, though don't be worried that it will take from the story - because it doesn't.

Date: 2010-08-19 02:12 pm (UTC)If Zuko isn't paired with Mai, then who?
(no subject)
Date: 2010-08-19 02:31 pm (UTC)And that? Is a good question. I would assume that if Mai was completely out of the picture - that is, out of the series - Zuko would have found some attachment in someone else - maybe Ty Lee. However, I even find that pairing improbable, especially since Ty Lee is a free spirit who wouldn't take well to being a politician.
I suppose even with Mai in the picture, I would assume that, due to common backgrounds and general amiability, I would have to say Toph or Aang. Toph, because they're alike but also different enough to keep it from being stale, and it's one of my crack pairings that I find adorable and cute; and Aang, because they have both gone through so much with their paths intertwined that I find it difficult not to see it working. And even then, maybe some kind of Zuko/Aang/Katara triad, since Aang is so in love with Katara (and vice-versa) and eventually Katara and Zuko make up.

Date: 2010-08-19 04:49 pm (UTC)You know those delicious cliches which are in fandom and fiction? Well, I want you to work in a one of them. ^^ Zuko has an identical twin. Preferablt not a secret, but common knowledge. His personality, name, anything, please choose by yourself. ^^
Remember the triplets AU? Well, Zuko is pregnant again. Muahhahhahaa.

Date: 2010-08-19 03:35 pm (UTC)* Post-series. Fire Lady Mai becomes a Jackie Kennedy-esq fashion icon for young ladies across the Fire Nation. Black nail polish, hidden knives, not smiling, and the odango hair style become a craze. Everyone wants to be unique... just like Mai.
* Zuko and Azula are born as twins. However, ancient Fire Nation law says that, in the event of twins being born, a monarch must kill one twin so to avoid a potential succession crisis later. Ursa is heartbroken, but Ozai disobeys his father in this matter. Viewing a son as more useful in continuing the family line, Ozai fakes Baby Azula's death and has her smuggled out of the Fire Nation. Azula is sent to live with a prominent Earth Kingdom family in exchange for protecting their province from attack. As the newly minted Qiao Bei Fong grows up, her firebending is hidden away from the world as a shameful secret she shares only with her little sister, Toph.
And here's a question: what do you think would have happened if Azulon had reluctantly agreed to Ozai's request to make him Crown Prince?

Date: 2010-08-19 03:56 pm (UTC)I'll reply to your question first, since both fics have much more pondering to do:
It's a good question - one that would undeniably have dark results. I have a feeling that while Ursa would not initially be happy with the outcome, she would eventually adjust to it, since she strikes me as a woman capable of adapting to circumstances she knows are beyond her control.
Azula would become completely powerful. I have a feeling that, in lieu of his new appointment, he would - in order to cement it - designate Azula as his heir over Zuko. She would be molded and modeled into something scarier than she ever could have been in the original show - and once Ozai eventually took the throne, she would become his second-in-command over her mother.
Zuko would more than likely withdraw into himself over this. While Ursa still being there would definitely help him cope and distract him, but I think his loyalty to his nation - and seeing it become totalitarian society under Ozai and Azula's rule - would hurt him and make him want to rebel. I have a feeling he would eventually speak out - perhaps not at a war council, but something very similar - but instead of facing down Ozai, I imagine it would be Azula who would jump into the fray on Ozai's behalf. Whether or not Zuko would survive that kind of fight would be up to speculation, but if he did, he would be far worse off than he had been with Ozai. Ozai's injury and banishment was meant as a lesson (as well as a means to get rid of Zuko), but Azula would want to kill him - or damage him enough to keep him out of the way for good.
If it still resulted in his banishment, I also imagine that Ursa - and still Iroh, maybe - would join him in his exile. If Ursa was scared of Azula before, she would be terrified now, and would want to do anything possible to ensure that Zuko was safe.
I also wonder if Zuko would even have any fight left in him after such a thing. Would he succumb to his depression? Or would fuel him further, make him more passionate to succeed despite being injured so badly?
Wow. What a dark AU I've woven, lol.

Date: 2010-08-19 04:17 pm (UTC)The list is a bit weighted towards the FN characters because of all the awesome ensemble FN fics that have been coming out lately, like Morality Chain, ab igne ignem capere, and the fics Loopy's been posting for Avatar Shipping Month 2010. Reading good fic makes me want to write good fic.
I'm fine with the second fic prompt being a drabble. I don't want to step on the toes of some other project you're working on by roping you into a longer fic.

Date: 2010-08-19 04:25 pm (UTC)If yes, five non-cracky reasons why.

Date: 2010-08-19 05:08 pm (UTC)1. The storyline: it's one of the more unique out there, despite it sounding pretty average (boy is a reluctant hero for saving the world and is chased by people who want to stop him). While the first season is basically designed to introduce the world to the viewers, it's also rich with character development that you need for later episodes.
2. The characters: They are so diverse and rich with personality that even the minor characters have something of definition to them. I have never seen such development in North American Animation in a long, long time. It reminded me of Shadow Raiders, and how detailed the characters were, that was how impressed I was.
3. The animation: While animated in Korea, the North American animation directors made sure to supervise - and indeed even travel there - to make it work out. The Korean studio worked with the NA staff, together, instead of just following orders. What resulted was one of the most detailed and fluidly animated shows I have ever seen in my life. While there are some flaws, the style remains consistent throughout the series, and the detail put into it is like eyeporn.
4. The cultural diversity: Visible minorities are thrust into the spotlight in this show, something rarely down without making it part of the plot. The world is heavily influenced by a myriad of Asian and Inuit cultures, and the characters are also Asian and Inuit respectively. Real Chinese calligraphy is used in the show, and the amount of research done - including the nuances in the names of each character - is so rare and amazing I can't even begin to tell you. And yet, it doesn't trumpet itself for it - it just is.
5. The humour. So it's a kid's show, thus guaranteeing that the humour is going to be silly and childish at times. However, it never goes into the realm of gross-out or toilet (well, the latter maybe once or twice, but not horribly), and the humour is surprisingly enjoyable for an adult of my geezerdom.

Date: 2010-08-20 10:21 pm (UTC)I should have added more questions into one comment, but...
1. Do you believe Sokka should have chosen Toph, or are you satisfied with him and Suki together? Do you prefer one or the other, or do you like both pairs the same?
2. Why do you think that Zuko and Katara cannot work as a
romanticcouple? Be honest! I promise I won't bite your head off!(no subject)
Date: 2010-08-20 11:03 pm (UTC)2.I think they work wonderfully as a fighting couple and as best friends. They have a ton of common ground and they have great chemistry. But it's clear that they also have the tendency to bring the worst out of each other during events that really could suffer for it. I also think that while they would be amazing friends - possibly more than just friends - as a romantic couple, or life partners, I think it would get bitter fast, and any passion they would have would burn out far too fast to make it work out. That's just me, though x.x

Date: 2010-09-01 12:57 pm (UTC)I started watching the show when I was 15, so there was over a decade of wiggleroom to allow for change. for example, I actually hated Tekla when I watched the show from the start - I found her annoying and useless, and once wrote a fic killing her off. Now, however, I find her interesting - a source of a kind of quiet strength and wisdom, all while having to face crushing reality and responsibility. I like her much better now.
