yukinoomoni: (Arima & Yukino (Get to Work))
[personal profile] yukinoomoni
Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] avocado_love.

Name a character and I'll tell you three (or more) facts about them from my own personal headcanon.

I know I've done this before, but I'm bored and need a distraction. Just make sure I know the fandom before you name someone =O

1. Was probably looking for ANY EXCUSE TO LEAVE but couldn't find any until Aang came along.
2. Makes it his secret mission to shit-disturb Sokka ANY CHANCE HE GETS.
3. Goes on personal little exploration-missions whenever he's off-screen, so epic that they could never be shown because they WOULD TAKE OVER THE WHOLE PLOT.

1. They usually attack when you have no means of writing down their ideas.
2. They are fickle bitches, prone to avoiding you when you want them, and harassing you when you don't.
3. I usually picture mine relevant to whatever I'm writing for.

1. HE PACKS.
2. He dyes his hair.
3. He sews his own cloaks.

1. It takes her a long time to get over Ryuuji.
2. I honestly am never sure if she finds another to love.
3. She spends her life trying to find one career, and ends up still overworking herself. She finds it fun.

1. She stays the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors for a long time post-war, but eventually starts thinking about going around the world to protect and help others.
2. Stays with Sokka, though their relationship occasionally is on-again/off-again due to the distance and different lifestyles.
3. She's a foreigner - she wasn't born on Kyoshi, but was recruited from a nearby fishing town by the previous leader, because she showed that she had the guts and strength to do it, and do it well.

Uh.

1. Marrying Mamoru was probably the biggest mistake of her life, but Chibi-Usa is the only thing that makes up for it - and allows her to forgive him.
2. Out of all of them, Rei is the one she goes to if she needs the most honest advice. Rei never lies to her, never spares her emotions, and she respects that more than anything else.
3. The first time she meets Minako, she was embarrassed and a little bit gay for her - especially since she was practically gay for Sailor V at the start. It takes her years to get over that initial, fangirl crush.

1. She never gets married. Instead, she satisfies any urge she has with liaisons of many different kinds. She's a very free spirit.
2. She doesn't become Queen of Omashu like everyone says. She just remains as she is, travelling the world. If she comes across things that need to be done, she does them. But she never settles down.
3. It takes her a very, very long time to make peace with her parents - but not for their lack of trying. She constantly has to struggle with trying to forgive them, even when, in later years, they have obviously changed.

1. She remains travelling with Aang for, like, ever (although it IS my headcanon that they break up at least once, because Katara is a ball of issues and has a lot of trouble with deep love - and especially with the fear of losing those she loves deeply).
2. She's instrumental in establishing women's rights in the Norther Water Tribe - not to abolish all traditions, but to give women the choice - for once.
3. Her self-righteousness still powers her through her life - and often gets her into trouble just as often.

1. Despite his shaky start, Zuko becomes a master at politics. His temper always will need work, but by watching both his father and his sister, he knows exactly what not to do.
2. He still goes igcognito from time to time, to let loose of course - but also to keep close to his people, to really know what continues to go on, to come face-to-face with what his rule really means for the average person (and to be a crime-fighting ninja, lol).
3. He makes it a habit to visit Azula at least once a week. To him, it's his way of redemption for, however indirectly, breaking her. It also allows him to keep, in some way, close to his mother.

Shadow Raiders...I figure the Prison Planet characters leave a lot of room for headcanon, as you know less about their pasts than some of the more established cast. I'm gonna say Jewelia or Sternum? Or both if you like!

(no subject)

Date: 2011-03-14 11:16 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] yukinoomoni.livejournal.com
Prison Planet, general:
1. Most of the criminals are actually peace-advocates. They were sent away to keep their mouths shut, to keep any formal uprising from happening to stop the wars.
2. The torture implements were originally used to break the bright spirits, the confidence and hope, of all of the prisoners. Insane prisoners are easier to control than determined prisoners.
3. The planet actually was a planet once - misfires and incorrect handling of the warp engines broke it apart, and only the small shard remains.

Sternum:
1. He was a rather accomplished leader, hellbent on organising the armies and forces into something far more reliable. It was less about power and more about success.
2. He always had trouble with relationships. His ambitions often kept him too busy to either look or care. Jade was probably the first real woman - despite being outside of his species - who attracted him.
3. Eventually he does forgive Graveheart for being the man Jade loves, and they do become great friends - their bond usually cemented by their exasperation of Femur.

Jewelia:
1. She crash-landed alright - from Planet Rock. Her unusual looks made her a pariah, which was why she sought to find a place of solitude - and ended up on the Prison Planet by mistake.
2. Sternum and she were lovers - for a while. But it turned sour when all she wanted was power, and all he wanted was peace.
3. Her solitude on Rock always made her slightly insane, and being accepted as a war-leader kept that insanity at bay. It was only when it became clear that everything she had worked for, everything she had sacrificed, had ended up for nothing, and she still ended up back on Rock, was when the last string broke.

"Headcanon" is basically an individual fan's personal image of the parts of a story or world that we never really saw.

For example, my personal ideas on how Fire Nation politics and upbringing worked during the rules of Sozin, Azulon, and Ozai would be by "headcanon" of that time period.

Sometimes a piece of one fan or group of fan's headcanon will popularize via their theories and/or fanfic to the point that it becomes "fanon" (and if the series is continued, some people's headcanons might turn out to closely fit to what ends up being actual canon).

No she didn't. Here!

Jade:
1. She didn't come from a militant family. Joining the army made her the black sheep - something that made her want to be all the more determined to do her best.
2. When Greavheart left the army, she also left - for a while. It was only realising that she was happiest (as much as she could be) in the army that she returned and strove to get to the highest position possible - to prove to him and to her that not everyone dies in the army.
3. As Queen (Lady?) Jade, her temper gets into some messes - behind doors. In front of people, she is the image of calm, the image of cool and detached monarchy. Behind doors, she's just as violent, loud, and passionate that she was during the war. Graveheart plays a heavy part in internal diplomacy.

Graveheart:
1. He and Mica were raised by their mother - his dad was killed in a mining accident. It's why both he and Mica sought out another path, both out of sadness and a hope that they wouldn't die like their dad did. When Mica died, he went to mining, because he realised that everyone would die no matter what - he might as well do what he knew the best.
2. Jade was his OTL. He never dated after he left the army, never even slept with anyone else. Although he assumed that they would never date again, he didn't want to date anyone else either - although he was asked several times.
3. Graveheart meant it when he declared himself content with being the leader of the Alliance, and just that. He never strives to be ruler and enjoys not only helping Jade out, but loves the challenge of balancing the five planets' peace. For the first time, he's proud of what he does, because for once, there is no death directly related to it.

1. Despite being sheltered all her life, while with Youko in Kei, she learns that she has a rather strong affinity for politics. People are disarmed by her beauty and assume way too much about her - to their peril.
2. She eventually makes peace with Gekkei - but it takes a long, long time. A loooong tiiiiime. As time goes on and she is exposed to real politics and her father's past, she swallows her pride and admits - even more than she ever had in-series - that she should have paid more attention to the peril of her country.
3. While she is forever sixteen (after being registered on the Registry of Wizards), she is less preoccupied with the worries of love - at least romantic love. Instead, she prefers the love of friends, deep and unwavering friendship-love, worth more to her than anything else.

1. While he remains a nomad, he still calls the Southern Air Temple home. Eventually, he returns to make it livable - and eventually reinstates the other temples as well.
2. He never, ever loses his eternal joy for life, no matter how many people try to take it away from him, no matter how many horrible things he sees. He always keeps to the good side, always makes sure to see the good in all, the benefit of the doubt.
3. He never really stops looking for other airbenders, even though he knows, deep down, he is the last. Even when Tenzin is born, he still wonders deep in his heart if there are others, hoping just as hard that somehow, he just missed them.

1. Mai ends up being a fucking fiendish fantastic politician. Why? Because she's given the choice to be one, instead of having it forced upon her. She knows people, knows how to keep a cool tongue, and knows when to keep quiet and when to speak out. She's also a perfect pillar/foil for Zuko, especially in his early years when he still hasn't gotten the hang of his temper yet.
2. She has guilt about Azula - especially when it becomes clear that Azula's rage isn't just rage but insanity. She usually keeps it to herself, like a personal burden that she has to carry, mostly because in the end, she really did choose Zuko over Azula - and she doesn't feel too right sharing it with him, even though he probably feels similar guilt.
3. She and Ty Lee were always close - and remain close all their lives. Out of everyone in the world, Ty Lee is the one who knows the most about Mai - though Zuko comes in at a close second. Ty Lee has seen - and heard - it all, and shares her silent grief over Azula. They are opposites, but they are eternal friends.

My first instinct was unsurprisingly Azula, but seeing as half of the characters posted so far have been from ATLA, how about Cassie from Animorphs?

(no subject)

Date: 2011-03-15 01:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] yukinoomoni.livejournal.com
Azula:
1. While it was obvious that Ty Lee was devoted to her, it was Mai's betrayal that hurt her the most - mostly because, just like her mother, she picked Zuko over her, and it cut way too deeply to the core. Ty Lee's betrayal was less about Zuko and more about stopping Azula from murdering Mai - something she could probably forgive easier.
2. When it comes to Zuko, she sees in as everything she's afraid of becoming, which is why she seems to hate him so much. In reality, she's afraid of him - especially when it becomes clear that he surpasses her, all without subjecting himself to what she herself does to get ahead.
3. She really and truly believed that Ozai at least loved her, if not anyone else. She had put the hope of love on him - love that should have come from two parents - and as a result built him up to an almost demigod. That's why it's especially hard for her not just to lose, but to realise that he lost, as well.

Cassie:
1. She really doesn't care too much about blood, pus, urine, or poop, but when it comes to vomit... it's her one real squick, and she tries to avoid it as best as she can.
2. There's a small part of her that is thrilled to fight, even though the greater part of her is disgusted and ashamed.
3. Even though they parted amicably at the end (sort of), she still holds a torch for Jake for many years following.

1. Not even she knows where she came from.
2. Out of all of the species she created, humans are her favourite. She loves their emotions, loves their short lives, and loves how fully they live.
3. While her spell brings her to the human realm, it wasn't originally her intention. It was only when she was brought accidentally to the human realm and found that she liked it that she rigged her own spell to continue the practise.

From: [identity profile] yukinoomoni.livejournal.com
1. She sometimes has trouble bringing herself of the "Ami-chan" persona, because it gets her so much attention and she's accepted so much more. Speaking about herself in third person is the only thing that keeps her grounded - and a bonus that it adds to "Ami-chan"'s cuteness-level.
2. While she remains in love with Ryuuji for a long time, she doesn't hate either him nor Taiga. While she and Ryuuji share many similarities, she also regonises - eventually - that it would probably have spelt their doom.
3. She and Minori end up really close friends, despite their sun-moon differences; they both share the tendency to hide behind their own puffed-up personas. Being friends with Minori allows Ami to realise that she's not the only one who enjoys hiding her true self.
